Heavenly Eyes

What the Heaven?

By Steve Countryman

As you go through each day you are constantly looking at what the world is and has to offer.  You do so through your natural eyes.  You “see” your needs, wants, troubles, problems, cares and worries.  That is what everyone does.  The mindset of today’s society is to “take care of number one” because nothing else matters and no one else cares.  What is important is what you want!  “What is in it for me?”  “What do you have to offer me?”  “What can I get from you?”  Don’t worry about anyone else but yourself.  You are the most important person you know.  Only you matter.  The problem with that mindset is that it will drive you to isolation, desolation and destruction!  Your inner child becomes the little spoiled brat that is ill tempered, ill mannered, mean spirited and extremely self centered.  Hopefully you get to the point that you want to take that spoiled brat and slap some common sense into him/her!

There is an answer and His name is Jesus!  When you have heavenly eyes you see things differently.  You see others as Jesus sees them, with unconditional love and with an everlasting love!  You see yourself differently too.  You are no longer self-important.  Your needs, wants, troubles, problems, cares and worries of this world are no longer controlling your thoughts.  Those thoughts that are fear and doubt driven are replaced with heavenly eyes of super faith and trust in a God who is your Jehovah Jireh, God who is able and willing to do immeasurably more than you can ask, think or imagine will provide ALL of your needs!  Your external needs such as your daily life, family, spouse, job and finances.  Your internal needs such as your physical and mental health and the healing of your body and relationships.  Your eternal needs such as your heavenly rewards, your heavenly mansion and ever lasting life with the Father!

Your heavenly eyes are those eyes that you receive when you keep your eyes on Jesus!  It is part of dying to self and crucifying the flesh daily.  Each day you choose Jesus and sacrifice the fleshly selfish natural you to the Father.  You choose to put on Christ daily.  You choose to have the mind of Christ daily.  This is all part of your heavenly eyes.  Keeping your eyes on Him!  When you allow the world to distract you, your attention then falls onto your life and all of your cares and worries.  That leads to arrogance and pride because you have traded your heavenly eyes for your natural eyes instead.  You have now taken your eyes off of Jesus!  It will negatively affect your walk with the Father, your level of faith and your level of trust.

In the natural your judgment and decisions are governed by what you know, what you see and what the world tells you.  A veil now covers your vision and filters all that you see with your natural eyes.  It is a very limited vision that points your gaze downward and inward.  That will cause you to automatically throw limits and restrictions on your God and His ability to bless your life!  You can choose to live your life differently by letting the Holy Spirit lead and guide you He will change your vision by changing your “eyes”.  It starts by how you choose to view things that you “see” everyday.

You can choose to be a blessing to someone that crosses our path or you can choose to ignore them as usual.  You must be determined to “see” the good and the many ways to be a blessing to others.  It is your choice and it does take daily practice!  Your heavenly eyes will improve your walk with the Father and help to elevate your walk to a walk of habitation!  When your walk is that of the Father you walk in His Word, His ways, His promises and in His kingdom here on earth!  John 5:19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.  John 12:49 For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken.  That is oneness and completeness with the Father, that is a walk of habitation!  That is what heavenly eyes will do for you!    Are you ready?!?

God Opportunities

By Steve Countryman

I pray that what I have learned I may be able to share with others complete with the blessings that it contains.  So many truths that have been revealed by the Holy Spirit have really shook my world but none to the degree that this simple message has.  Everyone knows that God places opportunities in our paths daily.  Opportunities of being blessed, blessing others, being tested, spiritual growth, of revelation and epiphanies, to share the gospel, to share your testimony, to encourage others and to love people like God loves people.  Most Christians, including myself, think that that is what being a Christian is all about, our daily lives.  It is all about preparedness.  But the reality that I have learned is that it is only a part of our lives and not the most important part either!

Simple tasks of being a blessing to others can turn into a fiasco of folly when we place our criteria upon them.  I found this out first hand at Christmas time several years ago.  I took four $25.00 Wal-mart gift cards for me and four for my wife Gina to give away.  I told her to give them to whoever she wanted to but not to friends or family.  This seemed to be a simple enough task to do but before I knew it I had turned it into a religious event.  I had to find someone deserving and needy.  Someone who really could use the gift card.  I became very judgmental and cynical in my selection process.  After a couple of weeks I had manage not to give away one single card.  I had made it nearly impossible to do.  There were many opportunities to give them away but no one fit my criteria.  Meanwhile Gina had given all of hers away the first week.  I made a simple task of blessing others into a religious chore.  “Are they worthy of my time?”  “Are they in need of a blessing or a prayer?”  “Do they really need my help/blessing?”  Don’t I have to like them to bless them?”  What if they are just faking needing a blessing?”  “I don’t want to be foolish for blessing the wrong person.”  That is what we Christians do, we judge others to our standards but not to God’s standards.

Opportunities are really a two-way street.  It blesses us to bless others just as it blesses God to bless us!  We must look at our opportunities differently.  To fulfill God’s purpose for us here on earth we must treat all of our opportunities as God opportunities.  That is what I have learned.  Not to judge others or try to fit them into my criteria for me to be a blessing to them.  That is not my job as a child of God’s.  Nowhere in the Bible does it say or have a list for me to use when blessing others.  What I must do is create opportunities for my God to be a blessing to others through me.  It is then up to God to do the rest.  By myself I cannot heal anyone.  I cannot deliver anyone.  I cannot cast out demons.  I cannot raise the dead.  And I cannot offer eternal salvation.  That is all up to my God to do.  John 5:30 “By myself I can do nothing”  Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

What I must do is make Jehovah God available to those around me.  I must take those opportunities and turn them into God opportunities.  I am to speak and declare God’s Word, to speak words of faith and deliverance, to take authority that has been given me through Jesus and the Holy Spirit to cast out demons and lay hands on the sick so they recover.  By allowing Jesus in us through the mighty Holy Spirit the opportunity to do the miraculous, the impossible, the inconceivable to those around us is why we are here.  It is all up to God to do the rest.  I don’t decide who gets healed or delivered, that is not my job as a Christian.  I am to direct those in need as they indicate their need to the only One who can supply ALL of their needs, Jesus!  As a Christian life is not about you but about what all God can do through you if you let Him!  AMEN!

Are you making yourself sick?

Psalm 38:3 (NIV)

Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin.

How are you feeling today? Are you sick in body, mind or soul? If so, look up and talk to God. Look inside yourself and see if there are any resentments, anger, fears, worries or doubts that you are harboring towards others or yourself. Really look at how you are feeling and be honest with yourself.

Every single day we must turn our problems over to God’s hands. We must forgive everybody and every situation that has hurt us – including ourselves. If you don’t know how to start then go to God in prayer, ask him to show you and to take the burdens from you. We must walk in faith.

When we hold on to negative emotions we make our mind sick-  then our bodies become sick – this sickness shows up in high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and numerous other illness. Most illness is a result of long –term wrong thinking, which causes us to make wrong decisions – like eating the wrong food, smoking, drinking, not exercising, lashing out at people, over-work, and so many more bad habits we fall into and accept as part of who we are – this is not true. We are so much more than our habits; we are children of God with a purpose on this earth to serve Him. When you give into negative emotions, you kneel at the devil’s feet – you lose your faith. Your faith is what helps you overcome all things, so this it is crucial it is not lost.

1 Samuel 16:12 (NIV)

12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.

Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”

Equip yourself well so that you may fight off negativity each day. Use the Word of God as you defense against these negative emotions. The Bible is full of weapons we must learn to use – these weapons are in the form of words – His WORD is our SWORD. There is a bible verse for every situation you are going through. We must release negative emotions as soon as we are aware of them. Life will never be fair or free of trouble. Our troubles make us strong, they force us to turn to God for help, and he wants our dependence to be on Him – not on the world. The more troubles we have, the more He is trying to get our attention. He is asking us to turn to Him and let Him take them from us. So be obedient, let go and be free.

Study the scriptures daily, pray often; find a church family for support, and you will be prepared for your troubles before they happen. You will be amazed how quickly they dissipate when your weapons are at the ready beforehand. Keep faith in God, he will not fail you. Life may not always go your way, but one day you will look back and realize that God had a plan for you and that’s the reason you had to go through the hard times – He needs you to be strong enough to carry out His mission for you. Stay strong in Christ and be healthy and happy.
