Courage to Change

Article by Walter Kahler

Courage is a byproduct of putting faith into action. By trusting Christ, we experience strength, not of our own and gain Christian confidence. This surety radiates the essence of living a saved life. Our steadfast reliance upon Christ gives us the greatest advantage in dealing with life’s ups and downs. The more we surrender ourselves to God, the better we are at facing anything and everything.

Christ demonstrated perfect courage when He was crucified. Judas betrayal of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane brought the world face to face with a kind of bravery never seen before. Our Messiah offered no resistance. Pontius Pilate gave the order to execute Christ and turned Him over to the Roman army. They inflicted Him with horrendous acts of physical mistreatments. Christ withstood all the torture they threw His way with dignity.

Christ’s example of facing man’s cruelty by being nailed to the cross is the greatest display of God’s powerfulness. If Jesus were able to die for our salvation then there is no reason for us to rebel. Our difficulties are minute compared to the burdens Jesus endured. By building a personal relationship with Christ, a whole new outlook upon life emerges. This unites us with God and eliminates the need to hold onto troubling circumstances. Freedom from the bondage of self only comes from salvation.

God created us with instincts for survival. One of those instinct is knowing the difference between a life threatening situation and the need of being accepted by others. Both circumstances generate fear. Recognizing one from the other is knowing how to identify their characteristics.

Let us take a look at some examples. The threat of being bitten from a poisonous snake is healthy because our life is in jeopardy, and this fear alarms us to the danger. However, on the other hand, when we feel troubled from being rejected from our fellows then our pride feeds us fear. So, one fear has to do with common sense and the other is all about self.

Self-centered fears are the main obstacle in the way of living courageously. This crippling emotional juggernaut permeates the human soul. When our spirits become consumed with unwarranted fears, there is no peace. The turbulence from living in constant worry keeps our connection with Christ at bay. This in return set us up for all sorts of unbalanced relations with others.

Now let us examine some common fears we all have. In the world, we live in it takes money to survive. We all know the struggles of making ends meet with our financial obligations. Here fear can run rampant causing us to make unwise decisions with money. Being afraid of financial insecurity solves nothing. Excessive worrying over money is exhausting and drains us physically, mentally and spiritually. There is a difference between being concerned and fearing finances.

Taking an honest look at our reaction to money issues will reveal our true motives. Here courage is required in accurately surveying our intentions on this unavoidable part of life. We cannot find the real facts of our spending habits without Christ’s aid. Having Christ as our financial advisor will provide us the wisdom to change our views about money. As a result, we begin to understand that no matter how distressful we become over money our trust in Christ will overcome our fears. This freedom from worrying leads to a partnership with our Messiah that strengthens our devotion with Him.

Letting go and letting Christ become our financial planner does not come without responsibility. We have to do our part and meet Him half way. Nor does it mean we will be debt free. God will provide us with a solution, but we will have to put His plan into action. Most often the answer has little to do with obtaining money and more about the strength necessary in dealing with the problem. Using courage under those conditions changes the jumbled up emotions associated with the conflict and serenity is added.

Another fear that has the tendency to put us in a frenzy is inadequacy. The feeling of not measuring up to others places us in situations that cause emotional insecurity. When we internalize the outward appearances of other’s with our own deficiencies we distance ourselves from the lessons Christ has provided for us to experience. This misconception of brotherhood is off the mark.

There is no reason to be afraid of others. We are here together for the purpose of living in God’s kingdom and in His house we are all equal. Christ does not concern Himself with man’s attributes but with our adherence to His commands. This type of behavior blinds us from God’s purpose for our own lives. This fear block us from accepting ourselves.

Living comfortably in our own skin, where we are able to measure up to others regardless of stature is living as Christ wants us to. It takes courage to move beyond our insecurities and bring something spiritual in the presence of others. Self-centered fear is lack of faith. The more willing we are in placing our trust in Christ, the better our Christian lives improve.

We have only discussed a few instances where Christian courage is prevalent. Courage to change is not limited to fear. There are many challenges in staying on the narrow way. Temptation is real and the strength in discarding it can only come from God. No matter what happens to us the most important thing is our readiness to restrain from the things preventing our adherence to Christ command.

Your Baggage

By Steve Countryman

All of your cares, troubles, problems, addictions, worries, character traits, past sins, flaws, faults, failures, grudges, unforgiveness, offenses, health issues and financial woes are all part of your baggage.  Just like baggage you carry it with you everywhere you go.  Most people are known by their baggage.  Though we all try to conceal our baggage the best we can by putting on our best face, our baggage always cones to the surface sooner or later.

Your baggage is your burdens that you bare.  They are always before you and you cannot escape them.  Satan uses them against you to trap you and keep your attention on them.  Always reminding you of your past mistakes and failures.  He loves to wear you down with them. But you don’t have to bare them alone.  You don’t have to allow them to define who you are.  They are only part of your past and now are part of your testimony!  Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Even with all of your baggage it never scares God off.  God doesn’t ask you to take care of your baggage so He can love you.  He loves you with all of your baggage.  In fact God wants to take all of your baggage and help you fix them.

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”  Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  1 John 3:1 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”  Romans 6:13 “Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and yield (surrendering) yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness.”

God’s love is so powerful that not only does He love you baggage and all and wants to be involved in your daily lives but wants to take care of your baggage too!  It is a matter of trust.  Do you trust God enough to surrender all of your baggage over to Him?  Do you think that the God of all creation knows something about fixing problems?  Can you submit and commit your baggage all over to Him?  Can you surrender, commit and submit your life over to your creator?  Surrender to God’s will, Word and ways.  Commit your baggage into His hands and trust God enough to leave them there.  Quit going back and picking them up again trying to fix them by yourself.  Leave them with the Master.  It amazes me that God wants my baggage and has plans to bless me besides.  Wow, I’m blown away!  Thank you Lord for loving me so!!

My name is Steve and I was born and raised in a good Christian home in Phoenix Arizona.  In 2004 God spoke to me to let me know that He would start sharing things with me that I would share with others. Little did I know how powerful and meaningful those things would be! Thank you Lord!!

Be Strong Trust God

by Lynn Gipson

The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him, my Father’s God, and I will exalt Him. Exodus 15:2

This morning I needed to read this very bible verse. I am watching someone I love very much disintegrate mentally before my very eyes and I feel helpless as to what to do about it. I am her caregiver, and my own health is questionable at this point.

This is a time when I seek God with all of my being, because I have no idea what the future holds for either of us. My faith in God has just increased a thousand times, because I know He will deliver us. My life and the life of a loved one is in His hands.

My God is my salvation, I praise and exalt Him, because I know He holds all strength. He hears my prayers, and He will answer. I have no fear.

10 Ways To Overcome The Force Of Giving Up Today

Fear Not

@creationswap/kevincarden

By Ngozi Nwoke

Are you feeling like giving up on that assignment, business, career or relationship? The feeling to quit can be so strong and frustrating; it occupies your whole mind and affects your reasoning. And you think that if you throw in the towel, you will have peace. I can well assure you that quitting is not the solution. This article tells you how to overcome the force of giving up the good.

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ – Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force – Matthew 11:12 (NKJV)

Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men – Proverbs 22:29 (AMP)

Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it – Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV)

For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry – Habakkuk 2:3 (NKJV)

The feeling to give up most of the time comes when you are starting something newly or you are facing challenges. You need to understand that this is normal. The enemy will always test your faith, strength and courage.

The bible says that if you fail in the day of adversity your strength is small – Proverbs 24:10 God understood this and kept telling Joshua to be strong and courageous – Joshua 1:6-9. There are giants on the way to the Promised Land. You must see that you are well able to overcome the giants – Numbers 13:30.

How to overcome the force of giving up

1. Confirm the will of God concerning the issue This is the first step to take. What God has not sanctioned He will not back up. Seek God’s face and be sure you are running on your own lane. If it is of God, relax because you will succeed even if there is a delay. Remember, if God be for you who can be against you – Romans 8:31. But if you are doing the wrong thing, you need to make a U-turn. As a wise man said, no matter how long you have been on the wrong path, anytime you discover it, just make U-turn. If you continue then you have signed for unending challenges and frustration, no matter your efforts. When you are sure of God’s backing, the strength and courage to continue come alive. You will be able to face all oppositions and you won’t be swayed by other people’s opinions. But the zeal of the Lord upon you will do it. Now, there is an exception – if you are married, God can’t tell you to quit your marriage. It is till death do you part – Matthew 19:6, Malachi 2:14. That is why you must make sure of God’s will concerning the person before you walk down the aisle – 2 Corinthians 6:14. Courtship can be broken but not marriage.

2. The book of the Law must not depart from your mouth The word of God in your mouth is a great motivator. Life and death are in the power of the tongue – Proverbs 18:21. When you use it well you receive life and vice versa. Again God has given you a mouth and a wisdom which your enemies cannot resist – Luke 21:15. As you keep declaring God’s word, the force of giving up will give way to the force of the word. It builds up your faith and you will be assured that that assignment, career or business will surely work. God told Joshua not to allow the book of the law to depart from his mouth but he should meditate on it, then will he prosper and have good success – Joshua 1:8. I presume you want good success? Then you need to meditate on God’s word.

3. Take clear and calculated steps. Planning and planning and taking no steps can be very frustrating. What you never do remains undone. If you do little or nothing but expecting great success, then you must be fooling yourself. There is profit in labor – Proverbs 14:23 When you have put in your best then God will bless the work of your hands – Deuteronomy 28:12. When He sees no work He will bless nothing. And He will bless according to your works. Remember faith without works is dead – James 2:17. So ask yourself if you have put in your best. May be there are limitations hindering you from taking steps you would want to take, ask God to remove them.

4. You must apply the force of pursuit You need to pursue your vision. In Habakkuk 2:2, God expects you to run with your vision and not crawl. When you crawl you give room for discouragement.

5. Equip yourself with the relevant knowledge. People are destroyed for lack of knowledge – Hosea 4:6. When you don’t have enough knowledge about an issue, you will struggle with it and you won’t make wise decisions concerning it. Load yourself with information; find out how those who succeeded did it. Really there is nothing new under the sun – Ecclesiastes 1:9.

6. Diligence is required A man who is diligent in his business will stand before kings and not before obscure men – Proverbs 22:29. Diligence will take you places. It will surely take some efforts from your part, but it delivers handsome rewards. When you are diligent, your mind will be occupied with your work and you won’t have room for give up thoughts.

7. Encourage yourself Truly, some challenges may come and you will feel discouraged, but you need to encourage yourself in the Lord. King David faced a big challenge one time. His family and his men’s family were captured and his men wanted to stone him. He encouraged himself and then had a free mind to ask God for the way forward – 1 Samuel 30:6-8 .The word of God is the perfect instrument to use in encouraging yourself. Search out the relevant scriptures and meditate on them. I tell you, your spirit will be lifted up.

8. You take your success by force The enemy will not fold his hands and see you fly into success. He will certainly put obstacles on your way, so expect them. But you can take your success by force. You need to violently take your victory – Matthew 11:12. The enemy is not gentle at all so you must not be with him at all. Now, the word of God tells you what belongs to you and when you equip yourself with the knowledge, you can violently tell the enemy to take his hands of your inheritance. But if you don’t know, you will just be crying and pitying yourself. That will give room to the force of giving up.

9. Hold unto testimonies Testimonies are powerful tools for overcoming the idea to quit. When you remember how God solved a case like yours for someone else, your spirit will come alive. The thoughts to give up will disappear. This is because God is not partial, what He did for one He will do for another. Testimonies are prophesies and they must be fulfilled, even in your life. We overcome by the words of our testimonies – Revelation 12:11. Anytime you engage testimonies you engage God. King David understood this principle and he engaged it when he faced Goliath. He said God who delivered me from the hands of bears and lions will deliver you into my hands. And God did!

10.Engage the force of praise and thanksgiving. Make praise and thanksgiving a lifestyle and you will see God working for you. Thank Him for everything He does for you and you will see Him do more. Praise Him for who He is and you will see Him fight all your battles. Why is praise and thanksgiving so powerful? It is because praise is what God cannot give Himself and so anyone that does is dear to Him. He inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3) and He comes with all His blessings.

So praise God continually and you will have no reason to give up. In conclusion, no matter the feeling to give up, you can overcome it with the help of God.

Why Christmas Again?

A Stable Influence

@creationswap/hollywilliams

By Ngozi Nwoke

Christmas again is here. What is special about it? Why should it be a big holiday time? Some people really ask these questions and they want answers. This article is to answer the question “why Christmas again?”

For my eyes have seen Your salvation. Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”… Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against – Luke 2:30-34 (NKJV)

Many people remember Christmas only for the holiday, giving and receiving of gifts, and a time to have fun and relax. But it is more than that. It is very significant and so must be observed with understanding and appropriate actions.

The date is significant enough that Anno Domini (AD) and Before Christ (BC), which are designations used to label or number years, are based on the birth of Jesus Christ. Also, all over the world, this date is recognized and respected. School calendars are scheduled with this date in consideration. Businesses and offices close on that day. Really, it is an important date.

Christmas again is remembered as the day Jesus Christ, the savior of the world was born. Jesus came as God’s salvation plan for humanity. Through Christ, God reconciled man back to himself. All man has to do to activate this perfected reconciliation is to accept Jesus as his personal Lord and savior.

In addition, it was a day one of God’s prophesies were fulfilled. God prophesied the birth of Jesus in the Old Testament and fulfilled it in the New Testament. The fulfillment of this is a proof that whatever God says He does.

Jesus is the glory of God’s people and He came to bring revelation to humanity. He is the way, the truth and the life. Through Christ we have access to God, the father and all that He has to offer: including His blessings. Furthermore, Jesus is for a sign and many people either rise or fall because of Him.

Why Christmas again?

It is a time to reflect and examine your status with God. Have you accepted God’s salvation? How much revelation have you received of God from Jesus? Is Jesus’ glory evident in your life? Have you risen or fallen? How much of God’s word concerning you are fulfilled in your life?

Therefore, Christmas holiday is a time to evaluate your walk with God and take some steps towards fulfilling the essence of Christmas in your life. So as you make out time to visit loved ones and to enjoy the holiday, also make out time to be in God’s presence to receive instructions and be empowered to rise more.

Lord Give Me A Burden (poem)

Distractions

@creationswap/ Jonathan Zajas

By Lewis E. Thomas

I call myself a Christian trying to walk that Narrow Way
But I seldom read my Bible and I seldom pray!

I have no real burden for a world of lost souls!
I find myself focused on the world and my gold.

I spend many wasted hours watching my T.V.
But seldom find the time to get on my knees!

Lord, open my eyes and please let me see!
The plague of sin and suffering out there in humanity!

Lord, give me a burden for the souls of all men!
Give me a burden for those dying in sin!

Lord, give me a burden for my sister and for my brother!
Lord, please give all mankind a burden for one another!

Lord, my heart is too focused on carnal things!
Please focus my heart on The King of Kings!

Lord, give me a burden in my soul that grieves!
For all those lost souls who do not believe.

Lewis E. Thomas as given by God on 8-21-13

I am now 61 years of age and I began writing poetry in the mid eighties to present. I became a Christian in the mid eighties. Poem content often comes to me in a matter of moments and sometimes over several days. The majority of my poetry is God/Bible based for the Glory of God.

Living Above Your Circumstances

Acknowledge Him

@creationswap/ Meliza Celeridad

By Irma Green

Psalm 34:17, 19 – The righteous cry out and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all of their troubles.  Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

The  Bible tells us that, if we go to God with our problems, He will take care of them.  it tells us that God will deliver us out of ALL of them.  It did not say that we would NOT have any problems or that we would have a FEW problems – the Bible says we will have MANY, but that God will deliver us from ALL OF THEM.  The Bible does not tell us that we will not have problems; it tells us how to REACT in the midst of them.

Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart.

That is why we are urged to call on the name of the Lord when we are in trouble.  God’s eyes sees your need.  God’s ears hear your prayers and God is near you when your heart is broken.  Scripture tells us, He is our strength in time of trouble.  He says “Come unto Me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest.

Psalm 40:1, 2 – “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He heard my cry.  He also brought me out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock.”

What a change takes place when we wait on the Lord.  When we wait on Him, he takes us from a pit to a highway; from miry clay to a rock; from crying to singing.  And tells us, “everything will be alright.”

The Bible tells us to “wait on the lord and be of good cheer.”  It tells us to wait on the Lord and be of good cheer in whatever it is we are going through.  The Bible tells us to “delight in the Lord and He will give us the desire of our heart.”  It tells us that if we seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness all the things we need will be added to us.  It tells us not to grow weary in well doing because in due season we will reap if we do not give up.

It tells us to run and not be weary, to walk and not faint.  It says, “fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.  For I, the Lord your God will hold your right hand saying to you, ‘fear not, I will help you'”

Psalm 34:1 – I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

No matter how impossible your circumstances may seem; no matter how high those mountains in your life appear to be, no matter how impossible that dream in your heart seem to be, if you will sincerely praise God, He will move into that situation and change it.

Nahum 1:7 – The Lord is good.   When trouble comes, He is the place to go.  And He knows everyone who trust in Him.

Don’t let your eyes get fixed on the problems or circumstances you are facing, because with God’s help you can go around any obstacle and you can overcome any problem.

Matthew 11:28 – Come unto me, all you that labor and are heaven laden and I will give you rest.

Come unto Me the Lord says, and I will give you rest.  Rest from your trials.  Rest from your cares.  Rest from your sorrows.

Psalm 23:5 – You prepare a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.

When God helps us, He does not do it in secret.  He does it in the open, where all, including our enemies can see.

Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart: and lean not unto your own understanding.

Don’t try to understand or try to figure out how God’s going to help you – just trust Him to do so.  We hinder God when we try to help Him solve our problems.  IF WE COULD DO IT – WHY DID WE ASK HIM?

Because of You

Prayer

@creationswap/jenniferpowell

Because of You By Steve Countryman

Because of you Lord I am made perfect.  Because of you Lord I am redeemed and saved.  Because of you Lord I am blessed beyond measure.  Because of you Lord my life has purpose.  Because of you Lord I am not the person I used to be.  Because of you Lord I am delivered, set free, healed and restored.  Because of you Lord I walk in your victory everyday.  Because of you Lord I don’t have to stare at my problems instead I get to stare at you, my answer.  Because of you Lord my past does not dictate my future, you do.  Because of you Lord I have a future.  Because of you Lord I am the righteousness of Jesus who dwells in me.  Because of you Lord my walk is an upright and righteous walk.  Because of you Lord my Christian life is exciting and NEVER boring.  Because of you Lord I will never be the same.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.  In my prayer time recently I was thanking God for Him being made strong in my weaknesses.  Then I saw a vision of being clothed in amour.  This amour was nothing special and looked common, not flashy like you see in the movies.  As I looked closer at it I saw “chinks” in it.  “Chink” means an opening in a suit of armor that allows a weapon to penetrate it.  Chinks are a sign of weakness in a suit of amour.  These chinks were caused by the weapons used against me by the enemy to hurt and destroy me.  Each chink represents one of my many weaknesses.  I used to wonder why God picked me with all of my weaknesses.  I know now it was because He gets to shine brightly through them in me!

To my amazement something spectacular started to happen.  A glowing light began to shine through my chinks.  The light became brighter and stronger.  There were so many chinks that the light that shined through it reminded me of a dance floor mirror ball.  What the enemy did not realize until it was too late was that the light shining through my chink filled amour was God being made strong through my weaknesses.  Because of you  Lord I am empowered with authority from on high!  For I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me.

Because of you Lord being made strong in my weaknesses my boast and my bragging is all in you!  Because of you Lord I am more than a conquer.  Because of you Lord I am the head and not the tail, I am above and not beneath.  Because of you Lord my strength is renewed like the eagle.  Because of you Lord I do not grow weary or weak.  Because of you Lord my walk of obedience and faith is made firm and secure.  Because of you Lord all my battles are won.  Because of you Lord I am not afraid for if you are for me then who can be against me?  Because of you Lord my successes and victories are found in you.  Because of you Lord there is less of me and more of you.  Because of you Lord I am saturated in your love.  Because of you Lord I am saturated in your prosperity.  Because of you Lord I am saturated in your Holy Spirit fire.  All I am and all that I will be is all because of you Lord!

My name is Steve and I was born and raised in a good Christian home in Phoenix Arizona.  In 2004 God spoke to me to let me know that He would start sharing things with me that I would share with others. Little did I know how powerful and meaningful those things would be! Thank you Lord!!
