Grandma’s Christian Spirit – A love story

My grandmother, Mattie LouAngela Dales-Mullins, is the most spiritual person I have ever known. She has been such a blessing to so many people with her iron-glad faith and gentle loving nature. Today she’s in a nursing home, but even there she is touching the lives of those around her daily. She has forgotten many names, even those of some family members – but she remembers the name Jesus Christ  – and she makes sure that anyone around her will remember his name also.

If you meet my grandmother, you get God’s message loud and clear! She’s bold in her faith. She’s small and frail these days, but when God moves her she is big, strong and powerful. She astonishes people with her enthusiasm and undying love for Jesus. My brother is a preacher and he was speaking with another preacher who visited the nursing home to give a sermon, he said that he went there to preach, but he ended up getting preached to my a little old lady in a wheel chair. Of course, it was our grandma!

Many people remark that it is “unfair” for our grandmother to have to be put in a home, since she is such a good Christian and lived such a faith-filled life. I understand the sentiment, as part of her family, we want her at home more than anyone else. But, let me assure you that God has her exactly where she is needed at this time. There is not a nurse, doctor, family member or visitor who has not heard the word of God when they are in close proximity to her when the Spirit comes alive within her. She is placed where she is for the purpose of touching the lives of others, to teach them what true, pure faith is all about, and share the love of Christ. Some of those people may never have been in a church, but when they encounter my grandmother in the Spirit, they learn of Christ.

She is a living testament that God has a purpose for us all, whether we choose to see it or not – the purpose is there. When you see a woman so weak she can barely lift a spoon, suddenly become radiant in Christ, raise her hands and clap them even as they tremble – and shout her praises to the Lord – there is no doubt that Christ lives through her! So, it’s not “unfair” that she is where she is and it is no accident – it’s His desire, His plan, His purpose. We have no idea how many people she has touched, has inspired, or how many have been or will be led to Christ through the messages that she spreads from her wheelchair or bedside. Always remember His ways are not our ways. Logic doesn’t work when God has a plan – that’s why they call unexplained events “miracles”; they defy all logic and reasoning.

Please don’t waste time in pity for my grandmother; she is truly blessed in spirit, and she is crowned with righteousness – she has more than many of us may ever have on this earth. She has endured many troubles, she kept God by her side, she loves Him above all else, and she has blessed this family with that same love. From her story, learn the lesson God teaches us about faith and start doing all you can to build your own faith to make sure that one day, no matter where you are, you become someone’s blessing too. Be bold in your faith, walk and talk with God daily, share His love with those around you, always know He will get you through whatever you may face in life, and you will live life with the same Christian Spirit my grandmother lives. As my grandmother would say “How sweet is His name! How precious is our sweet Jesus, children! I love Him so much!”

From all of your grandchildren “We love you Grandma Mattie!”

I am A Child of The Most High God!

The Glory of God

By Steve Countryman

Hosea 1:10 “they will be called ‘children of the living God.”  Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”   John 1:12 “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

The phrase “I am a child of the Most High God” has to be one of the most difficult phrases for most Christians to wrap their minds around!  Mostly because we constantly listen to that stupid voice in our heads telling us that we don’t deserve to be His child.  The God who gave His One and only Son to suffer and die for all mankind’s sins.  That just to be a servant of the Most High God is such a privilege.  Trying to rationalize how the God of all creation would call us “friend” let alone His child is beyond our ability to comprehend.  And yet God’s love is so far above our understanding that He doesn’t only call us friend, call us His children but also makes us co-heirs to the throne of heaven!

It is a mindset that we need to receive.  It is a mindset that we must have daily.  1 Corinthians 2:16 “But we have the mind of Christ.”  It is our heavenly responsibility to walk in it constantly everywhere we are and everywhere we go.  It is where the power and authority of heaven resides in us!  The reality of being a child of the Most High God carries so much more than we know or understand.  For too long we have been settling for good instead of God’s best for us.  We have compromised away His blessings and spiritual power because of our lack of patience, our lack of faith and trust, our lack of commitment and dedication to God and our lack of wisdom, Biblical knowledge and revelation.  It is understanding that as a child of the Most High God that God not only answers our prayers but more importantly He is the ANSWER to all of our prayers!  Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”  You seek first His kingdom, His ways, His will, His commands and show and prove your love for Him by your obedience and follow through then being a child of the Most High God is fulfilled in you!

There is power and life is in the tongue, in spoken words and especially in speaking out loud God’s Word and promises!  The following is best when read out loud.  I need reminding and I know it will help you realize who you are in Christ Jesus and who Christ Jesus is in you!  Anytime you are faced with problems, attacks or you just need to hear from God, this is a good thing to pull out and declare out loud.

I am a child of the Most High God and God makes me more than a “get-me-by” person, more than a survivor, more than a victor and more than a conquer.   I am a child of the Most High God and I am blessed beyond measure, beyond imagination, beyond my widest dreams and I overflow with His goodness everywhere I go.  I am a child of the Most High God and my boast is in you Lord for every good and perfect thing in my life is from you.  I am a child of the Most High God and I “put on” your amour, the mind of Christ, your love and mercy, your patience and contentment.  I am a child of the Most High God and you “clothe me” in your righteousness, your peace and joy, your power and authority.  I am a child of the Most High God and I represent the Holy family of God everywhere I go ALL the time!  I am a child of the Most High God and I will not compromise away my beliefs or your Word.  I am a child of the Most High God and I will not give up, give in, quit, lay down, hesitate, let myself be deceived or be distracted away from fulfilling the destiny that you my God has for me.

I am a child of the Most High God and my body is the Temple of the Lord and is His dwelling place.  I am a child of the Most High God and sickness and disease is not allowed in His Temple my body!  I am a child of the Most High God and I walk in your prosperity, goodness, all spiritual giftings, your overflow, abundance, surplus and extravagant blessings.  I am a child of the Most High God and I am a Holy Spirit filled believer who walks in ALL power and authority of heaven everywhere I go.  I am a child of the Most High God and my daily walk is one of intimacy, closeness, openness, honesty and transparency.  I am a child of the Most High God and I am above and not beneath, I am the head and not the tail.  I am a child of the Most High God and NO weapon formed against me shall prosper!  I am a child of the Most High God and I walk in reverential fear, in your spirit of wisdom and revelation.  I am a child of the Most High God and I will not allow the evil one, who has been defeated, to lie or deceive me!  I am a child of the Most High God and I will not allow sin, addictions, wickedness, any vile thing or situation/circumstance to rule and reign over me!  For ALL power and authority of heaven lives and dwells in me, His Temple through God’s One and only Son Jesus through the Holy Spirit.  I lay hands on the sick and they recover, I cast out demons and raise the dead.  For I am a child of the Most High God and it is time for All of God’s children to start acting like it!

Prayers God Answers – The Prayer of Jabez

@creationswap/MelzaCelendad

In the midst of a long list of who beget whom is a short, two verse, story about an honorable man and his prayer. It was a prayer that God answered. This powerful Old Testament prayer can serve as a model for our own prayers. Bruce Wilkinson’s book, The Prayer of Jabez, became a huge success. It became so successful that many people felt that there must be something wrong with it. But this prayer from 1 Chronicles 4:10 is a great prayer for one simple reason: God answered it. And we need to take another look at this simple, but effective, little prayer.

“Oh, that You would bless me indeed,” 1 Chronicles 4:10b

Many people feel that it’s wrong for us to ask God to bless us, but they miss the point. The point is: God wants to bless us.

Psalm 67:1-2 says, “God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, Selah. That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.”

When God blesses us He reveals to the entire earth just who He is. And God’s salvation, His power, love, and mercy, are proclaimed when He blesses His people.

“…and enlarge my territory,” 1 Chronicles 4:10c

Jesus’ disciples got into an argument about who was going to be the greatest among them. Jesus knew that they were having this discussion, so He confronted them about it. What’s interesting is that He did NOT say to them: “You shouldn’t want to be great.” Instead He gave them specific instructions about HOW to be great. In Luke 22:24-2 , Jesus tells the disciples that the Gentiles believe being great means ruling over people, but that is not how they are to understand greatness. He says, “he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.” To be great, we must become greater servants. Our greatness is not determined by who we look down on or who works for us, but by the kinds of people we serve, the number of people we serve, and the way in which we serve them.

” …that Your hand would be with me,” 1 Chronicles 4:10d

Most people spend their lives trying to figure out how little they can get by with. They want to get more for doing less. Jabez knew that by asking God to help him serve more, he was asking God to help him do more than he could possibly accomplish on his own. He purposely asked God to put him in a position where he had to depend on God. As Michelangelo once said, “The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.”

“…and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” 1 Chronicles 4:10e

Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one,” in Luke 11:4. Sin and evil are all around us and we need to be aware of our dependence on God to live a life that pleases Him in every area.

But a second aspect of this prayer becomes clear when we read that the name “Jabez” means pain. It was the name that his mother gave him because of the pain he caused her during birth. Jabez had spent his entire life, every time he was introduced to someone or whenever someone called his name, being reminded that he had brought pain into his mother’s life. We all have to pray for God to help us overcome the wrong beliefs that we have about ourselves. Whether it was our parents, teachers, or anyone else who said them, we all have beliefs about ourselves that simply aren’t true. They are nothing more than what others have projected onto us because of what they were experiencing or what they believed.

God wants to bless us and help us become greater servants. In order to do that He wants us to depend on Him completely in every area of our lives. And He wants us to believe the truth about who we are. We are His children, He loves us, and He is with us every moment of our lives. He wants to do great things in our lives. At the end of of this simple prayer in

1Chronicles 4:10 we read, “So God granted him what he requested.”

When we pray this prayer that God answers, just like Jabez , our lives will never be the same.

Smile! God Loves You!

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

“Smile! God Loves You!” I said it as a child and submitted these words to go on a shirt our teacher was having made for our class . Yes, this was before God was taken out of school! I created big, puffy happy words and colored them and handed to my teacher. Guess what? My submission won along with another student who had drawn the “perfect” smiley face! I remember seeing the finished shirt for the first time and smiling. Too bad I never kept it, at the time it was still just a shirt to me – even if it was a little special.
Those were simple words with a powerful meaning that would somehow get me through the toughest times in my life. No matter where life took me – or where I allowed it to take me – my core belief was that God loves me – I have value, even when I devalued myself. I ultimately would not destroy that love that God bestowed upon me, no matter what I did to destroy myself. As I grow older and realize that all those tough times were the times when I leaned on Him, when I looked to Him, when He pulled me from the danger and set my feet back on solid ground. He’s truly shown more love to me than I could ever deserve. The good news is: He loves us all this way!
There is nothing in your life that God’s love will not see you through. You can go to Him with any problem and ask Him for guidance with a sincere heart – and He will guide you. He will make the rocky road smooth and give you strength to carry on. He alone knows the plan He has for your life, the direction it will go. He will reveal that plan as you seek Him out in prayer and meditation. Our problems are meant to make us turn to Him in prayer and understanding. He wants to get our attention and sometimes we don’t listen too well, so before you know it we have problems. This is why it is so important to keep Him close every day – not just in days of troubles. If you do, your troubles will be few because He already knows you are dependent upon Him.

Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

Love is powerful, it is important, it is true faith. He loves you no matter how you feel about yourself or how your neighbor, spouse, friends, co-workers, or anyone else feels about you. You can accept that love and start radiating it outward onto those people who may not have those same feeling for you – and watch the miracle unfold! It is that love that He instills in you that you give out to others that will make you complete. You will reap the love you sow and He is the seed you need – so ask Him to fill you with His love – and you will get more than His love back, you will get your life back. A good, loving life that He wants you to enjoy.
So remember to “Smile! God Loves YOU!”

1 John 3:1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

10 Points to Apply to Your Life

1] Prayer is not a “spare wheel” that you pull out when in trouble; it is a “steering wheel” that directs us in the right path throughout life.

2] Do you know why a WINDSHIELD in a car is so large and the rear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, look ahead and move on.

3] Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4] All  things in life are temporary.  If going well enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong don’t worry, they can’t last long either.

5] Old friends are like GOLD! New friends are Diamonds! If you get a Diamond, don’t forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a base of Gold!

6]  Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, “Relax, sweetheart, it’s just a bend, not the end!

7] When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn’t solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

8] A blind person asked St. Anthony: “Can there be anything  worse than losing eye sight?” He replied: “Yes, losing your vision.”

9] When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them; and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

10] WORRYING does not take away tomorrow’s TROUBLES; it takes away today’s PEACE.
